Gibson A Style Mandolin 1915

Price

$1,499.00

Killer sounding loud A Style mandolin at 110 years old! It's safe to say this Mandolin is Vintage and even an Antique. A few years ago Ken Bailey (instrument builder) worked on this Mandolin in Barnardsville, NC after it had been brought across the country from Oregon. Ken sorted out the neck and a couple other issues and it's still playing exceptionally. The body and finish appear to be original and there are no cracks and there is hardly any damage to be found. The action is low and the sound is woody and loud. Some of these mandolins are "duds" but this one sounds and plays great! Feel free to inquire within or set up an appointment for a test drive.

From the web:

A 1915 Gibson A-style mandolin is a historic, hand-carved instrument known for its classic "olde time" woody sound, projecting with a good amount of cut. These mandolins typically feature a spruce top and birch back and sides, a mahogany neck, and an ebony fingerboard. They come in various sub-styles, such as the A-1 or higher-end models, and while they are often well-loved and may show signs of age, they offer a distinct vintage tone that has only improved over time
